Vrchota, 906 South Ninth street, died yesterday afternoon at 5:15 o&#39;clock of typhoid fever. About six weeks ago Mr Vrchota was taken ill with a complication which finally turned into typhold fever. He has been confined to his home for the past month and during the past week his condition while not considered dangerous was such it was thought best by attending physicians to remove him to the hospital, and last Monday he was taken to the La Crosse hospital. He continued to decline on his arrival at the hospital and sank rapidly until death relieved his sufferings yesterday afternoon. Mr. Vrchota was born in Bohemia 45 years ago, and came to America with his parents in 1867 directly to La Crosse, where Mr. Vrchota&nbsp; has since made his home. Soon after coming to La Crosse he learned the tailoring business, having graduated from Wallace Business college of this city. He followed his trade until 1889, when he entered politics. He was clerk of the board of public works for four years and elected city clerk in 1895 and re-elected in 1897. Since his retirement from city clerk&#39;s office he has been employed a greater part of the time at the Whitbreast Fuel company. Surviving Mr. Vrchota are his widow and seven children, all of them living at home. He also leaves four brothers and five sisters as follows: Joseph J, James and Frank of his city, and Charles of Los Angeles Ca; Mrs Albert Spika of Grand Junction, Co; Mrs Edward Sklenar&nbsp;and &nbsp;Mrs Ida Tyler of St Paul Mn; Miss Lillian Vrchota of La Crosse and Mrs. Ralph Bedell of Nyack. NY. Mr Vrchota is buried in an unmarked grave at the cemetery across from the La Crosse High School.</p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;April 2, 1908 La Crosse Tribune</p></line></content></metadataxml>
