<metadataxml><content><line><p><strong><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: times">Peter Neuman was born in Germany in 1794. He did not emigrate to America until well advanced in life; he was twice married, four children being born of the first union.<span>&nbsp; </span>His second wife, who survives him was Miss Frederika Kreuger, also a native of Germany.<span>&nbsp; </span>In August, 1859, Mr. Neumn emigrated to the United States with his family, and coming to Wisconsin he settled in the town of Waterloo, Jefferson county.<span>&nbsp; </span>Eight years afterward the family removed to Vernon county, Wisconsin, and settled at Hillsborough; there the father died in October, 1878.<span>&nbsp; </span>By his second marriage eight children were born: Ferdinand, the eldest, died at Hillsborough; Samuel L., the eldest surviving son, resides in Hillsborough; Lizzie is the wife of Martin Hauslick, Sauk county, Wisconsin; Minnie married I. T. Carr, and resides in Juneau county; Charles O. lives in Elroy; Tillie is the wife of Herman Steffin of Hillsborough; Herman E. is the next in order of birth; Edward resides in Wonewoc.<span>&nbsp; </span>Herman E. Neuman was born in Germany, February 26, 1858, and was an infant of eighteen months when his family crossed the sea to America.<span>&nbsp; </span></span></strong><strong><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: times">Herman Neuman was united in marriage January 11, 1881, to Miss Alice Thompson, a daughter of C. G.
