Burial was in St. John's Cemetery.

Mary Duchak, daughter of Martin Duchak and Anna Barbour Duchak, was born February 8th, 1871 in Chicago, Illinois. When she was three years of age the Duchak family moved from Chicago to Vernon county, Wisconsin, establishing their home in the Town of Union. In that community she attended the Wopat school and grew to young womanhood.

She was married November 24th, 1887 to Mathew Stanek. Mr. and Mrs. Stanek established their home on a farm in Union township where they continued to reside for over fifty years. Mr. Stanek passed away January 9th, 1939. During the many years Mr. and Mrs. Stanek resided in Union township they became influential members of the community, giving staunch support to every worthy endeavor which assisted in the betterment and progress of the locality.

Surving Mrs. Stanek are three daughters, Anna (Mrs. Albert Sebranek of Milwaukee), Emma (Mrs. A. A. Chute of Elroy), and Helen (Mrs. George Prielapp of Kendall); two sons Stanley Stanek and Robert Stanek, both of Hillsboro; many other relatives and a large number of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mathew Stanek; two daughters, Elizabeth (Mrs. Rudolph Pesik) and Miss Agnes Stanek; two sons Joseph and James Stanek; her parents; seven brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Stanek was a very kindly lady of pleasant personality whose life was an expression of kindliness and helpfulness, giving practical assistance and inspiring guidance to all those who were privileged to be numbered among her associates. For fifty-eight years she had been a loyal member of St. John's Catholic congregation and was an active worker for many years in the Altar Society and St. John's church.

Her devotion to home and family was evidenced in her constant and unfailing thoughtfulness of those who were near and dear to her. The many friendships which she enjoyed throughout the community were also indicative of the fine spirit of neighborliness and sympathetic understanding through which she so willingly assisted others. Mrs. Stanek will long be remembered as a beloved mother, a true friend and an excellent neighbor-a pioneer whose contribution to this community and its people will ever be treasured in the hearts of those who so deeply mourn her death.

Family links:
Spouse:
 Matej Stanek (1863 - 1939)*

Children:
 Elizabeth Stanek Pesik (1888 - 1933)*
 Anna Stanek Sebranek (1891 - 1978)*
 Joseph E Stanek (1895 - 1935)*
 Stanley Stanek (1899 - 1989)*
 Agnes Stanek (1902 - 1935)*
 Helen Christine Stanek Prielipp (1904 - 1994)*

*Calculated relationship

Burial:
Saint Johns Catholic Cemetery
Dilly
Vernon County
Wisconsin, USA

</line>
</metadataxml>
