He had been is poor health for about a year. <br><br>Funeral Services will be held Thursday morning at nine thirty from the Stanek home and at ten o&#39;clock from St. John&#39;s Catholic church near Dilly. The Rev. Father C. J. Smetana, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. John&#39;s cemetery. <br><br>Matt Stanek, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Stanek, was born on February 23, 1863, in Mantiny, Czechoslovakia. There he received his education and grew to young manhood. At the age of sixteen years he came to the United States. For six years he lived in New York city where he followed the trade of blacksmithing. Then he came to Hillsboro where for two years he continued to follow the blacksmith trade. <br><br>On November 24, 1887, he was married to Miss Mary Duchek. They established their home on a farm in the town of Union, Vernon county. They resided on that farm for about fifty years, moving last year to the town of Forest, to make their home with their son, Stanley. <br><br>He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Emma (Mrs. Adolph Chute) of Elroy, Helen (Mrs. George Prielipp) of Kendall, Anna (Mrs. Albert Sebranek) of Cadott and two sons, Stanley of the town of Forest and Robert of the town of Union, Vernon county. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Betty (Mrs. Rudolph Pesik) and Agnes; two sons, Joseph and James; his parents; two brothers, Thomas and Joe; and one sister, Valentina. <br><br>Mr. Stanek was a fine Christian man who will be greatly missed be all who knew him. He had many friends in this and neighboring communities where he was held in high regard. He was a faithful member of St. John&#39;s congregation and a loyal member of the Holy Name society.
