Fanta, 76, of 215 Cleveland Ave., Manitowoc, died Saturday morning at Family Heritage Home, Manitowoc.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="font: normal normal normal 11px/normal 'lucida grande'; min-height: 13px; margin: 0px"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="font: normal normal normal 11px/normal 'lucida grande'; margin: 0px"&gt;Mr. Fanta was born March 22, 1895, at Manitowoc son of the late Alois and Christine Krainik Fanta.&amp;nbsp; He attended schools in Manitowoc and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1917. He entered World War I in 1917 serving in France with the Second Division [1st Lieutenant, Co. B, Supply Train] and received the Croix de Guerre.&amp;nbsp;He was discharged in 1919. He married Mary Ann Engleson Nov. 11, 1926 at Milwaukee, and the couple returned to Manitowoc. He had been employed at Imperial Eastman as a purchasing agent for 25 years retiring in 1963.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="font: normal normal normal 11px/normal 'lucida grande'; min-height: 13px; margin: 0px"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="font: normal normal normal 11px/normal 'lucida grande'; margin: 0px"&gt;Mr. Fanta was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientists, served as past president of the Optimists Club was a 50 year member of the Manitowoc Chapter No. 16 and a member of the Manitowoc Council No. 18. He served as past commander of the Manitowoc Commandary No. 45, and was a member of the Scottish Rite (32nd degree Mason), and a member of the Tripoli Temple Shrine of Milwaukee. He was also a member of the Manitowoc and Two Rivers Shrine Cub, the Manitowoc Elks Club, and served on the Manitowoc Utilities Commission for several years.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font: normal normal normal 11px/normal 'lucida grande'; margin: 0px"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="font: normal normal normal 11px/normal 'lucida grande'; margin: 0px"&gt;Survivors include his wife, a son, David of Manitowoc, three daughters Mrs. Thomas (Suzanne) Jones of Riverside, Calif., Mrs. E.F. (Ruth. Ann) Hertzog of Cupertino, Calif., and Miss Christine Fanta of Tel Aviv, Israel, and nieces and nephews.&amp;nbsp;A sister preceded him in death.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="font: normal normal normal 11px/normal 'lucida grande'; min-height: 13px; margin: 0px"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="font: normal normal normal 11px/normal 'lucida grande'; margin: 0px"&gt;There will be no visitation.&amp;nbsp;Memorials may be made to the First Church of Christ Scientist or the Y.M.C.A.&amp;nbsp; Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is in charge of funeral arrangements.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</line></content></metadataxml>
